Privacy Policy
This policy explains how PropertyPath handles personal information, consistent with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Last updated 27 June 2026.
The short version
- If you use PropertyPath without signing in, your financial profile and plan stay in your browser (localStorage) only — we never receive them.
- Our calculator APIs are stateless: figures you submit to compute are not stored on our servers.
- We never sell your personal information, and we never use your financial inputs for advertising.
- You can use, export and delete your data yourself; signed-in account data can be deleted on request.
What we collect
- Information you enter as an anonymous user
- Income, expenses, deposit, holdings and similar inputs you type into the planner are kept in your browser’s localStorage on your own device. They are not transmitted to us for storage. Clearing your browser data removes them.
- Account information (only if you sign in)
- Sign-in is optional and handled by Auth0’s Universal Login. If you create an account we receive a user identifier and the email address associated with your login, held in an encrypted session cookie. We never see or store your password.
- Data you choose to save to your account
- When signed in, you may save plans, portfolios, holdings and scenarios. These are stored against your account identifier in our database so they are available across your devices. They are visible only to you.
- Technical telemetry
- In production we capture anonymous error reports and performance timings (e.g. stack traces, page load metrics) to keep the service reliable. Your financial inputs are never included in this telemetry.
How we use it
- To run the calculators, scoring and modelling you ask for.
- To authenticate you and make your saved data available when you sign in.
- To diagnose errors, monitor performance and keep the service secure and reliable.
- We do not use your information for personal financial, credit, tax or property advice, profiling for advertising, or sale to third parties.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to operate PropertyPath — identity (Auth0), hosting and database infrastructure, and error/performance monitoring. They process data only to provide those services to us and under their own obligations. Some providers may store data outside Australia; where they do, we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable protection. We will also disclose information where required by law.
Market data feeds
To mark holdings to market we request public price data from third-party feeds (e.g. Yahoo Finance, CoinGecko). These requests carry the ticker or asset being priced, not your personal information.
Your rights
Under the APPs you may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to delete your account data. Anonymous, browser-stored data is already under your control — clearing your browser storage removes it. To exercise any right, or to make a privacy complaint, contact us at hello@propertypath.com.au. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Retention & security
We keep account data only while your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations, then delete or de-identify it. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures — encrypted session cookies, access controls and reputable infrastructure providers — to protect information, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date. Please also read our Terms of Service and Methodology & sources.
